Nectar Home Volunteer Program

What is Nectar Home?

Nectar Home is an orphanage in the Manya Krobo district of Ghana. It provides food, clothes, education and shelter for 20 children who have been affected by the HIV/AIDS virus. The home encourages the children to grow in a supportive environment and challenges the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.

The Volunteer Program

The Nectar Home Volunteer Program runs through from December to February. From four to eight weeks up to ten volunteers are offered the opportunity to use their unique skills to directly impact the lives of the Nectar Home children. The program is specifically tailored to allow volunteers to explore their specialized areas of interest with a variety of volunteer options including working at the local hospital, teaching at the school or helping with the administration and general operations of the orphanage. Volunteers will stay in special accommodation on site at the orphanage so as to gain the maximum experience from the trip.

This program is 100% volunteer run with low administration costs, so profits go straight to Nectar Home and you will be able to see first hand where your contribution is making a direct impact. The Volunteer Program costs $1,850AUD for four weeks, or $3050 for eight weeks. This package includes airport pick up and drop off as well as all accommodation and food for the entirety of the stay. Flights, travel insurance and any extra travel will be the volunteer’s responsibility. Volunteers will be provided with a comprehensive induction pack on acceptance into the program and will be invited to several preparation nights before the trip as a chance to meet other participants and prepare for the experience.
