Current Projects

We are building good public spaces
around Melbourne based on principles
of urban renewal and sustainable living.

IMPRINT

Launched in 2011, IMPRINT is rejuvenating public spaces in lower socioeconomic areas of our city, leading to increased social interaction, boosting economic activity and discouraging crime.

Project Overview

IMPRINT is an urban rejuvenation project that aims to create positive public spaces in the community to:

  • improve quality of life
  • encourage community interaction
  • boost economic activity and,
  • discourage anti-social behaviour and crime

Our spaces will encompass a broad range of ideas, incorporating sustainable design, healthy living and cultural harmony.

IMPRINT has formed a partnership with the City of Moreland, in Melbourne’s inner north. With their support, the project is currently involved in spaces in the suburbs of Brunswick and Glenroy, and will continue to seek out potential sites in disadvantaged areas throughout Melbourne.

IMPRINT is also collaborating with the University of Melbourne’s Landscape Architecture faculty to develop a Studio assignment that centers around the Glenroy space. Students will have the opportunity to generate design ideas that may later be implemented.

The project emphasizes the importance of participatory methods to engage residents and university students in shaping their urban environment. Later this year, IMPRINT will be running forums and events to gather input from the public. This ensures that the community is involved every step of the way and that their needs and desires are translated into the final design.

The quality of an urban environment plays a huge role in shaping a community’s identity and values. IMPRINT hopes to rally Melbourne’s communities and spearhead a movement of urban change.
