For members of the University of Melbourne SIFE, it is always exciting to meet and collaborate with fellow SIFE members from teams around the world. President, Richmond Glasgow and Human Resources Manager, Ying Qin were lucky enough to meet with members of the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) SIFE team, on their recent research trip to Australia. President, Jenny Xu and three members of the BFSU Executive team visited the SIFE Office and toured the University of Melbourne campus. Conversation quickly turned to the distinct SIFE culture that transcends national borders. Jenny observed that Australian SIFE members, much like those at BFSU are dedicated, community-minded students who were very much ‘workaholics’. In the spirit of knowledge transfer – one of the key tenets of the SIFE experience – the group discussed their approach to team structure, recruitment, succession planning and sponsorship. There was also discussion of cross-border project collaboration in the future, an exciting prospect for both teams. The University of Melbourne SIFE is keen to keep in touch with their new friends at BFSU.
