For new members, the Team Vision Seminar provided a clear picture of the future that SIFE students are trying to create through our educational outreach projects. President, Richmond Glasgow communicated to our 56 member team the ideas expressed in our recently formed purpose statement – Leading People to Expect the Extraordinary. The purpose and mission were created by the core leadership group working with an external team performance consultant in a 5-day vision workshop during the university break. The mission statement – Working with diverse communities to enable significant and lasting change in an organisation where every member is happy – recognises our enduring commitment to community engagement as well as the importance of our members’ personal and professional development.

The Vision Seminar was also a great way to bring together old and new team members and each project had the opportunity to showcase their achievements in the lead up to the National Conference. We heard about Nexus Abroad’s fieldwork in Ghana, the development of Switched-On Enterprise’s Business Learning Modules, Think.Act.Green’s school seminar series and EnviroSelect’s new guidelines for auditing small businesses. Nationals Coordinator, Carryn Vincec led the team in brainstorming ideas for this year’s presentation and key messages that that we want to convey. All team members were encouraged to challenge themselves by auditioning to be a presenter. The inaugural Vision Seminar was a great success and ended with dinner and drinks at the Corkman.
