EnviroSelect
EnviroSelect aims to promote and facilitate change in the way small businesses think and act in relation to the environment. Founded in 2006 by SIFE members, Enviroselect is now a not-for-profit organisation with its own corporate governance structure and team of 21 members. The team is currently working with 15 external parties, which range from corporate partners to local business supporters.
EnviroSelect have created a mark of recognition that is awarded to businesses that demonstrate improvements in their environmental practices. The team assists businesses in achieving this mark by conducting an initial assessment followed by a series of recommendations. Each recommendation has been designed to simultaneously reduce operational expenses and improve environmental performance. Businesses are required to implement 30 core actions and 2 optional actions. The 30 core actions have been specifically chosen because they are expected to provide a net economic benefit over a 12 month period, and because they represent the basic habits that all sustainable businesses should adopt.
EnviroSelect primarily engage with small to medium sized enterprises in the hospitality sector. This initiative has been well recognised by the business sector and the team have developed strong partnerships across the business, legal and sustainability sectors.
