Our Team
Social inequality and climate change are the unpleasant realities of our world. We're engaging with these challenges to cultivate a more optimistic vision for the future.
Our Vision
We are a non-profit student organisation developing community projects to drive social change. We're generating innovative solutions to some of the biggest problems facing our generation.
Social inequality and climate change are the unpleasant realities of our world. We're engaging with these challenges to cultivate a more optimistic vision for the future. We're committed to stimulating social progress and we're starting today.
We're practical visionaries. We've partnered with academic and business leaders and we're inspiring them to action. We're working with diverse communities to enable significant and lasting change. We hold ourselves to account for the success of each project.
The work we do is nothing short of extraordinary. We're changing the world, one student-led initiative at a time. This is our blueprint for the future.
Our Team
The University of Melbourne team is constantly striving to set new benchmarks with revolutionary projects, an entrepreneurial approach and an energetic and dedicated team of over 80 students.
Our projects target a broad range of issues such as environmental sustainability, employment for the socially disadvantaged, and, through our first international project, the development of a sustainable livelihood for small enterprises in the developing world.
Our organisation consists of 5 project teams and 3 functional divisions - Finance, Human Resources, and Marketing and Communications. The team is led by an Executive Committee comprising the President, Vice President, Executive Secretary, and the Project and Functional Managers.

The team’s activities are overseen by a Faculty Advisor who is a senior member of the University staff, and a Business Advisory Board comprised of a diverse mix of academic, industry and government representatives. The Board meets on a quarterly basis to provide advice, monitor activities, receive project reports, assist in the development of strategy and act as a judging panel in the lead-up to the national competition.

The annual SIFE Australia National Championships is a forum in which SIFE teams from universities across Australia present their student-led projects to a panel of influential and high profile members of the business community. Teams are evaluated on the depth and breadth of their projects and the level of impact they have demonstrated in creating social and economic opportunities for others.
In addition to the community aspect of the program, SIFE’s National Championship provides personal and professional development, creating meaningful opportunities for learning and exchange among SIFE teams, as well as participants and company representatives in search of emerging talent.
President's Statement
"SIFE is by far the most rewarding experience I have had at university. The combination of practical application and community involvement has helped me excel both personally and professionally. Everyday I'm inspired by the students who make up this extraordinary organisation, and by the change they each create - addressing real challenges, and achieving real results for real people."
